Today we have many SEO tools which track your keyword rankings and all your SEO activity, but most of them are paid or inaccurate. Usually, SEO tool scrapes data from Google and then display it to their system. This way scraped results becomes personalized and inaccurate, it very depends on the user’s location, previous searches and so on. But there is a way to get actual keyword ranking positions from Google. Because Google itself provides this data with Google Search Console and Google Analytics (free tools). Both tools are great, but when you need to get keyword rankings or make more advanced SEO reports it becomes difficult to set up. This awesome SEO tool makes you focused on what is happening with your website and how your SEO improvements work. Let’s try SeoPoz it really worth it!
Google’s job is to help users find what they’re looking for. When it comes down to it, that’s all they’re doing. So, having content or writing articles that answer very specific search terms, something somebody actually looking for is very important.
You can’t just write like one tip for fishing and hoping that’s gonna rank. It’s got to be a response to somebody’s really specific search.
2. Websites that are mobile-friendly
Google’s mobile-first index is now a reality, which means it’s drawing its results from mobile-optimized sites first, rather than sites geared to desktop computers. If your site isn’t mobile-optimized you risk being out in the cold, in SEO terms at least.
3. Page speed (Especially Mobile Page speed)
Page load speed is becoming a more and more important ranking factor to Google, as more people use their mobile devices and this one is really hard.
Go to another browser right now and open up Google page speed insights and go check 1-2 pages on your website. If your page load speed for mobile is above 60, you’re doing extremely well. Most WordPress websites can even get there.
4. Domain age and Authority
If you have a domain that has been penalized in the past by user using really spammy techniques or you have a domain that is brand new, Google is not going to be able to attribute much trust and authority to your domain in the short term. It’s going to take some work to overcome this issue.
But over time as your domain get some history behind it, as you have more and more articles that are doing well with the user testing, as you get good high-quality links to other articles on your website. Then Google could trust your domain and hence you’ll be able to rank much higher, much faster. Even if you start a brand new website.
5. Content quality and length
Google’s search algorithm relies on keywords. These are the words and phrases searchers use when they’re looking for information. They’re also the words and phrases that describe the topics your site is about. Ideally, those will match up.
One negative SEO ranking factor to be aware of is duplicate content. For SEO, fresh, original content is always best.
6. Quality backlinks
Page relevancy measures the thematic relevance of a website page’s content compared to the backlinked websites on that page. If you are working with another website to build a link to your website, it’s critical that there is thematic relevance within the content of that page.
Thematic relevance is defined as a measurement of how relevant a piece of content is to a particular keyword phrase, beyond simply determining if that keyword occurs in the content. If semantically relevant phrases, words, and themes exist within the page content, it’s considered thematically relevant and a high-quality backlink.
7. User experience
Using various SEO tactics can propel your website to the top of relevant SERPs, but the effort will go to waste if potential visitors are not provided with a quality browsing experience. Website owners should therefore focus on creating the best possible browsing experience as their first priority.
Here I define the most important SEO metrics and show you how to watch them in SeoPoz platform.
1. Organic website traffic (clicks from search engine)
The main purpose of doing SEO is to gain more visitors to your website. All visitors who comes from search engines is called Organic traffic. This metric is essential in term of all your SEO activity.
In SeoPoz platform you can see your website’s organic traffic in Clicks column.
It’s not all your organic traffic, because we only count traffic from Google search engine and only traffic which leads from query search. Visitors from other search engines you can check in Google Analytics report.
While other metrics might show a trend, this metric gives you quantifiable proof that your efforts are actually bringing in more visitors.
2. Impressions & CTR
Impressions is a number of times your website has been listed in Google results page. In SeoPoz platform you can see your impressions in Impr. column.
CTR – Click Through Rate is another very important SEO metric. CTR showing how often people who see your website in Google results end up by clicking it. CTR calculated by this formula:
CTR indicates how well your content appeals to your audience.
3. Backlinks & Referring domains
One of the key SEO metrics determined by backlinks and referring domains. Backlinks are links from outside domains that point to pages on your domain; essentially linking back from their domain to yours. To a larger degree, your backlink profile is made up of backlinks from external sites (also known as referring domains) that contribute to the overall strength, relevance and diversity of your domain’s backlink profile.
There is a strong correlation between your website rankings and number of Backlinks to your website.
4. Authority Metrics
The sheer number of backlinks isn’t enough. You want to measure the quality of the backlinks you’re building, as well as the increasing authority of your own site.
One of the most known authority metrics are Domain Authority (DA) & Page Authority (PA). This is the term coined by Moz to gauge the “authority” of a domain name on a scale of 0-100 (based on links, brand mentions, etc.). Another well known metric is Alexa Rank.
Alexa Rank is a measure of website popularity. It ranks millions of websites in order of popularity, with an Alexa Rank of 1 being the most popular. Alexa Rank reveals how a website is doing relative to all other sites, which makes it a great KPI for benchmarking and competitive analysis. Alexa Rank is calculated using a proprietary methodology that combines a site’s estimated traffic and visitor engagement over the past three months.
5. Keyword Rankings
Keyword Position in Google search results. You can find very detailed report about keyword rankings in Keywords section.
Keyword Search Volume – is the number of searches that are expected for a keyword within a month.
6. Engagement Metrics
Bounce rate is the number of visitors who left your site without clicking any link (or hitting the ‘back’ button on the browser). This is expressed as a percentage.
Session duration is the amount of time visitors spend on your site on average.
Page views is the number of pages your users visit on average before leaving the site.
Social media management tools help you find more content to share. Use them to schedule posts at the perfect time, as well as measure the effectiveness of your campaigns. What’s more, they give actionable insights you can use to improve your social presence.
